ABBY LOOK

Hello! My name is Abby Look. I am from Wisconsin Rapids, WI and I plan to stay in Wisconsin after graduation. In the near future, I hope to work within the social media and marketing area of graphic design or creating systems and creating a better user experience. I enjoy creating my own designs for screen printing, printmaking or crafting. My hobbies include fishing, kayaking, photography and coaching basketball. A fun fact about me is I love building Legos, and I can juggle basketballs.

Rafter’s Social Media

I had the opportunity to work as the graphic design intern for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters Baseball Team. I created several projects that incorporated their branding and helped promote several events throughout the season. The objective for this series was to create different social media graphics to keep Rafter fans up to date with upcoming events, games and scores. I created layouts for each, used photographs from the photography intern, and used sponsor logos accordingly. The social media graphics that I created include Week at a Glance, post-game scores and up-coming events.

Rogue Taxidermy Website

The objective for this project was to create an informational package about a unique hobby. Rogue Taxidermy is a hobby that has wide but niche audience. This type of fine art has many negative stereotypes and creating a website to inform people of this hobby would help squash those stereotypes. The website consists of several pages that range from learning about Rogue Taxidermy to connecting with other artists in your area. I created the website layout, logo for Taxidermy Artists of Wisconsin, and provided text for a few pages. I collected photographs and testimonies from well-known Rogue Taxidermists to create a connectiveness through the website.

Hearing Loss Research

The objective of this project was to design for a cause. I was tasked with finding a cause that I am passionate about and use design tools to help that cause in some fashion. Hearing loss in teenagers and young adults is one of the few things that I am passionate about. The research question that I chose to pursue was, “How can design bring awareness to hearing loss in high school band students?” I created a three-panel poster, an educational pamphlet, and a case study with all my research findings. My goal was to educate students, parents, teachers, and school administrators about the dangers of hearing loss in band students.
