JINTAO ZHANG

I’m Jintao Zhang, from China, and I'm a graduating senior majoring in graphic design, with a particular interest in logo and package design. My passions and interests include art, design, and wildlife. I also collect coins, porcelain, jade, and rare woods. In my free time, I enjoy watching documentaries, movies, and anime, as well as playing badminton, swimming, and running in the jungle. I'm an avid collector of books on graphic design, fashion design, and industrial design. I also collect Hot Wheels, including some super rare models still sealed in their original boxes. I've always dreamed of buying and restoring vintage cars from the 80s or 90s—a pipe dream, perhaps, but one I still hold onto,

Business Card Design

In the 2022 academic year, students are asked to design a business card. The requirement is to give full play to the students' imagination to make up a company and briefly explain what the business scope of the fictional company is. Then, students are asked to become an employee of this company,

and there is no limit to the position requirements. This project requires that the business card designed by students conforms to the aesthetics and impression of the fictional company. The

business card consists of two sides. The front side has the company's name and logo, and the back side has the company's employee's name and phone contact information.

Infographic

This is an infographic about how diet affects the microorganisms in the human intestinal digestive system. I chose this theme is that I hope to show people through my design that there is another world in our intestines. The creatures living in this world are our good partners. Our eating habits determine their health, and their health will affect our health. These bacteria can be good or bad for our body, depending on our diet and lifestyle. Good bacteria can help us digest and break down food and promote the absorption of nutrients. They depend on us, and we need them. This is a symbiotic relationship between species. On the contrary, bad bacteria will invade good bacteria, thereby disrupting the digestion and absorption function of the intestines, leading to an imbalance in the gastrointestinal microbial ecosystem, and in severe cases, producing long-term chronic negative effects.

Poster Project

Recognizing the profound link between society and environmental degradation, my understanding of this issue deepened after encountering a sobering 2024 Science article. It’s alarming how readily that we embrace plastic products while often overlooking their destructive footprint on the Earth’s ecology. Therefore, this disconnect fueled my decision on the microplastics for the topic of poster I was trying to design and submit for competition.

To illustrate this narrative, I’ve drawn inspiration from the haunting melody and lyrics of “[Where Have All the Flowers Gone],” reimagining it with “plastic” and “microplastics” in place of “flowers.” The adapted lyrics adopt a sarcastic voice to depict the lifecycle of plastic: from its human origins and widespread adoption to its relentless accumulation in the natural world, its centuries-long fragmentation into microplastics, and its silent invasion of global ecosystems via rivers, oceans, and air, inflicting irreparable harm on the environment, countless creatures, and human health itself.
